The choice of modern elegance

The 925 silver ring:
classic, affordable, timeless

Silver rings are enjoying a notable revival. Long seen as an affordable alternative to gold, they are now a confident choice, worn with pride by those who value style, restraint and authenticity.

925 silver — also known as sterling silver — is a noble, precious metal worked for centuries by the world's finest silversmiths. A solid 925 silver ring is, above all, a fully fledged piece of jewellery: durable, refined and able to outlast decades without going out of style.

Whether you are looking for a minimalist everyday silver ring, a bolder piece with a stone, or a beautiful gift without breaking the bank, 925 silver answers every brief. At Els Benvinguts, our selection brings together models carefully chosen from recognised designers and craftspeople.

The value for money of 925 silver is unmatched in fine jewellery. Where a comparable 18-carat gold ring would cost several hundred euros, a well-made 925 silver ring is often found between €50 and €150 — with no compromise on the material or craftsmanship.

What is 925 silver?

Everything you need to know about the noble metal behind your ring.

Pure silver vs. 925 silver

Pure silver — 999 (99.9% silver) — is too malleable for jewellery use. It scratches, bends and deforms too easily. That is why jewellers use sterling silver, or 925 silver: an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of another metal — usually copper.

That copper provides the mechanical strength needed for everyday jewellery without altering the metal's appearance or intrinsic value. 925 silver is recognised worldwide as the benchmark for quality silver jewellery.

In France and Europe, 925 silver jewellery must carry the official hallmark: an owl (for imported pieces) or a Minerva head (for French-made pieces). This hallmark guarantees the declared silver content.

A noble metal in its own right

Silver is a precious metal on a par with gold and platinum. It has the best thermal and electrical conductivity of any metal, exceptional reflectivity and natural resistance to bacteria.

A solid 925 silver ring is built to last. Unlike silver plating — a thin layer of silver deposited over a base metal — solid 925 silver doesn't wear away in layers: it tarnishes slightly at the surface (natural oxidation) but regains all its shine with a simple clean.

Properly cared for, a 925 silver ring can be worn for decades and even passed down through generations. It is a piece of real value — not disposable jewellery.

925 silver finishes

High-polish silver

The classic finish. Bright and luminous, it reflects light intensely. Ideal for modern, minimalist or stone-set designs. The most common and versatile finish.

The most luminous

Rhodium-plated silver

925 silver coated with a thin layer of rhodium — a metal even more precious than platinum. The result: a cooler, more intense whiteness and stronger resistance to oxidation. Highly valued for its premium feel.

The most resistant

Oxidised / patinated silver

Silver deliberately darkened for an antique, vintage or contrasted look. Often used on worked, sculpted or enamelled pieces. Gives a ring a unique, confident character.

For her

Silver ring
for women

Silver rings for women come in an extraordinary range of styles. From a slim, plain band — discreet, stackable, perfect for everyday — to crafted models set with coloured enamel, zirconia or fine stones, every woman finds her natural expression.

Current trends celebrate stacking: several silver rings worn together on the same fingers, mixing widths and textures. It's a highly personal style, easy to adopt with silver because the pieces are affordable.

Enamelled designs are especially loved: they bring a sophisticated touch of colour while preserving the elegance of silver. The Arior line we carry is entirely handmade in France — craftsmanship rare at this price.

On sizing, the average women's size sits around 52–54 mm. See our full women's ring size guide to find yours accurately.

For him

Silver ring
for men

Silver rings for men have reclaimed their place. Prejudice gone — today, wearing a ring is a confident style choice, whether a simple band, a bold signet or a wide geometric design.

Men's 925 silver designs stand out for their clean, architectural lines: wide bands, flat or textured surfaces, geometric or floral motifs. Solid 925 silver signets deliver an imposing look at a much lower price than gold versions.

Mixed silver rings with black or dark enamel are particularly on trend: they project strong character and pair naturally with a contemporary men's wardrobe.

The average men's ring size sits around 60–64 mm. See our full men's ring size guide to measure your finger reliably.

Measurements & sizes

How to choose
the right size

Size is often the only barrier to buying. Good news: there are simple, reliable methods.

Why size matters

Your finger changes in volume with temperature, time of day and physical effort. Measure at the end of the day, at normal room temperature, neither hungry nor after intense activity.

Three practical methods

2. With an existing ring: place a ring that fits well over a ruler and measure the inner diameter. Then look up our conversion chart.

3. At a jeweller: the most reliable method. Our advisers in Andorra are on hand to size your fingers accurately.

Care tips

How to care for
a silver ring

L'argent noircit parfois. C'est normal à et facilement réversible.

Why does silver tarnish?

Rhodium-plated silver resists tarnishing better thanks to the rhodium coating. But even rhodium-plated silver eventually dulls slightly with time and use.

Good news: oxidation affects only the metal's surface. It does not destroy your ring. A simple clean is enough to restore its original shine.

How do I clean a silver ring?

The simplest and most effective method: warm water + a few drops of mild washing-up liquid. Gently rub with a soft cloth or a soft toothbrush, rinse with clean water and dry immediately in air or with a lint-free cloth. Result: shine restored in 2 minutes.

For rings with coloured enamel (such as the Arior line), avoid abrasives and bicarbonate: use only lukewarm water and a soft cloth.

01

Right storage

Store your silver ring in a fabric pouch or closed box, away from humidity and light. Damp air accelerates oxidation.

02

Avoid chemicals

Remove your ring before applying perfume, cream or make-up. Also avoid swimming pools (chlorine), the sea (salt) and household products.

03

Wear it regularly

Paradoxically, a ring worn often tarnishes less than one shut away. The skin's natural warmth and friction slow oxidation.

04

Regular cleaning

A monthly clean with warm soapy water is enough for most silver rings worn regularly. Allow 5 minutes maximum for a perfect result.

Gifting a silver ring:
how to nail the gesture

A precious gift at the right price

Unlike perfumes or clothes, a solid silver ring doesn't go off, doesn't crease, doesn't wear out. It's a piece you keep, wear and sometimes pass down.

For a birthday, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, a birth or simply to mark an important moment — a silver ring is the right gift. As a bonus, its more affordable price compared to gold makes it a responsible, generous choice without excess.

Size isn't a deal-breaker

The main hurdle when gifting a ring is size. Here's how to get round it:

Discreetly borrow one of the person's existing rings and measure the inner diameter. Then check our conversion chart. Alternatively, use the statistically most common sizes: 52–54 for a woman, 60–62 for a man.

Our shop can usually resize a silver ring to the right fit within a few working days. What matters is the gesture — size is easy to sort.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ — 925 silver rings

  • 925 silver, also known as sterling silver, is an alloy of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% of another metal (usually copper). It is the international standard for jewellery: pure 999 silver is too soft for everyday wear, so the added copper provides strength without losing its aesthetic qualities. The 925 hallmark (or the official guarantee hallmark) certifies this content.

  • Yes — it's a natural phenomenon. The copper in the alloy reacts with humidity, air and certain products (perfume, cream, sweat) to form silver sulphide, a black or greyish film. This tarnishing does not damage the piece — it is superficial and reversible. A clean with warm soapy water, or with silver polish, restores its full shine in minutes. Rhodium-plated silver rings resist oxidation better thanks to the rhodium coating.

  • The simplest method: soak your ring for 5 minutes in warm water with a few drops of mild washing-up liquid. Gently rub with a soft cloth or a soft toothbrush, rinse with clean water and dry immediately. For tougher marks, a silver polishing paste delivers excellent results. Avoid bicarbonate for rings with coloured enamel or delicate stones — stick to lukewarm water only.

Consultez notre guide Gifting a ring without knowing the size pour toutes les astuces.

• 925 silver is generally very well tolerated by sensitive skin. It is hypoallergenic for the vast majority of people. The small amount of copper in the alloy can, very rarely, cause reactions in people allergic to copper — in that case a rhodium-plated silver ring (with a rhodium coating) is the better option, as rhodium is perfectly tolerated.
